The Roy Bailey Big Band formed 20 years ago by Roy Bailey started life as a small dance band doing local dances in the area. In later years it developed as it is today playing a range of big band arrangements in all styles
The band plays a variety of music ranging from Basie, Ellington and Miller. Big Band classics to more modern arrangements from artists such as Caro Emerald, Christina Aguilera and Michael Buble sung by our 3 vocalists
Gail Hendrickx, Beccy Kean and Ed Hall, who also comperes the band.
The band consists of over 25 players and their sound is truly overwhelming. The Roy Bailey Big Band is adept at delivering a wall of sound which you can only achieve from a Big Band.
Over the years the band has had a mixture of players and they are particularly proud of the younger players who have gone on to become professional players including Nathan Hawken and Peter Whitehouse who have also played with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
