About The Band
The Roy Bailey Big Band was formed over 20 years ago and has been playing regularly at local events ever since. The band plays a variety of music; ranging from the Big Band classics of Glenn Milller, Duke Ellington and Count Basie, through to the vocal world of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Ella Fitzgerald and on to more modern arrangements of artists such as Caro Emerald, Christina Aguilera and the music of Gordon Goodwin and his Big Phat Band.
The band is formed of local musicians and we are always delighted to receive enquiries from anyone who might be interested in joining us, either regularly, or to form part of the Roy Bailey Band extended family! The band has always welcomed younger players looking to develop their jazz playing and we are particularly proud of those who have gone on to become professional players including Nathan Hawken and Peter Whitehouse who also played with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra. We all share one thing - a love of performing great music - and which we strive to do to the best of our abilities.
Do come along to a gig and see for yourselves and of course please get in touch if you would like to book the band or had been contemplating dusting down a trumpet or trombone and joining us!
